Saturdays January 4, 11, 18 and 25, 2014, 9am to noon, Senior/Community Center, Encinitas, Because We Like Hue - "Fun with Glass" with Kate O'Brien. Stained glass and fused glass. Learn to transfer a pattern to glass, cut and foil glass, solder the glass pieces together, the fundamentals of fusing and glass kiln firing schedules. Monday, Jan. 13, 9:30am -12:30pm ,San Diego Botanic Garden, Ecke Building, 230 Quail Gardens Drive, Encinitas, CA 92024.  Fee $25 . "Try It, You'll Like It" hand-on workshops taught by the skilled artists from the San Dieguito Art Guild. Choice of Mosaics, Oil Painting, Jewelry or Postcard Watercolor Painting. Thursdays, Jan. 23 & 30, Feb. 6 & 13 from 9:30-12:30, San Marcos area, Because We Like Hue - Beginning drawing with Barbara Roth. Learn or improve your ability to draw. Drawing is not "Rocket Science" it is just learning some basic drawing concepts and then practicing them. By the end of the classes you'll be able to sit down and produce a sketch you can keep in a sketchbook, hang on a wall, sell or use for a watercolor painting. 4 sessions of 3 hours per session. The Design Divas, Rita, Gayle and Emma present a class for tweens and teens, ages 11-13yrs. Join us for two fun filled days, exploring 2D and 3D art forms. You’ll create and complete (2) projects in 2 different mediums, suing the art of silk screening and clay modeling/  silkscreen a shirt of your own design , and create a uniquely you necklace with fimo clay.

Fee $50 for 2 Sessions, plus $10 materials fee. Location: Encinitas Community & Senior Center, Arts and Crafts Rm., 1140 Oakcrest Park Drive, Encinitas.

Unique artworks from the creative minds and hands of the San Dieguito Art Guild Members. Promoting local art at a gift filled Holiday Bazaar. Join us and shop with over 30 artists who have a huge variety artwork from ornaments to fused glass, and everything in between.  Just in time for the Holidays, come support your local art guild and enjoy the day.

CLASS #2 - Beginning Watercolor with Linda Melvin
Dates of class:  Thursday, October  3, 10, 17, 24 

Time:  10am - 1pm 

Instructor:  Linda Melvin 

Location:  843 Santa Regina, Solana Beach  

This beginning watercolor class will cover the basics of watercolor (wet on wet, wet on dry, dry brushing, graduated washes) paints, paper selection, and brushes. This beginning class will have a supply fee of $12.50 for 300# Arches watercolor paper to be paid to teacher at first session. If you have watercolor supplies, please bring them to the first class or contact Linda at 619-200-3431 or painter197@aol.com. 

Cost of all four classes:

$100 plus $12.50 materials fee.

San Dieguito Art Guild Starts "NEW" Art Class Instruction - Join Us for "FUN WITH GLASS"

Because We Like Hue

SDAG is starting a “NEW” series of classes to be known as "Because We Like Hue" taught by members of the Guild.

"Fun With Glass". The first class is scheduled and ready for you to sign up. New classes will be added shortly and will include watercolor, plein air painting, oils and more.

Dates of class:  Saturdays, September  7, 14, 21, 28,  Time:  9-noon

Instructor:  Kate O'Brien

Location: Encinitas Community Center, Arts and Crafts Room, 1140 Oakcrest Park Drive, Encinitas  (cross-streets Encinitas Blvd. & Balour Dr.).  Plenty of parking.

In this four (4) part class participants will be introduced to the art of working with stained glass.  We will create a stained glass sun-catcher, fuse and slump glass in a mold and create a glass mosaic on wood. 

Students will learn to transfer a pattern to glass, cut and foil glass, solder the glass pieces together, the fundamentals of fusing, glass kiln firing schedules, and techniques of creating mosaics.  

Written instructions will be provided to each participant to take home.  Patterns will be available or the participants may create their own designs.

All tools needed will be provided during the class time.  A $30 materials fee, which includes two firing fees, will be paid to the instructor at the first class.

Cost of all four classes: $100 plus $30 materials fee.
