Celebrating Our Aritsts - 3 Weeks of Art

Meet  Dolores Renner, jewelry designer.  The second of four "featured artists"  displaying on October 13th from 5: to 7:30pm at our Off Track Gallery in Encinitas.

Dolores started beading about eight years ago while caring for her aging mother over a period of six years. Beading became a form of meditation during an extremely stressful time of life. Since then, it has become a creative outlet in day-to-day life. The sparkle and color in Dolores' intricate beaded designs are from Swarovski crystals and pearls, which are of very high quality for color, clarity and shape.

Through much trial and error, Dolores evolved from simply putting beads on a string, into weaving imaginative, complex and sometimes kaleidoscopic designs. She enjoys working with the never-ending combinations of color, texture and shape.

Artie  an illustration artist who has been drawing since she was a child.  Taken by the work her father created she observed and took flight.  Her creations are whimsical, fun and intriguing The detail involved in her artwork is amazing to view and fun to interpret.  You can wonder for hours amongst a piece as you view scene after scene of her predominantly black and white illustrations. Quite often you will view a colored piece and it takes your mind to fanciful places. Her art is award winning and year after year she has gained numerous Del Mar Art Fair awards.

Celebrating Our Artists - 4 weeks of Artists

Meet  Bobbie Harrington, the first of four "featured artists"  displaying on October 13th from 5: to 7:30pm at our Off Track Gallery in Encinitas.

As a child, Bobbi already had the passion of an artist as she was always drawing. At the age of 13, she began oil painting. She is primarily self-taught, but has taken lessons from many great teachers over the years. In return, for over 30 years, she has been teaching others who share her passion.

Bobbi has had numerous one-woman exhibitions within the United States. She created an eight-plate series for Lenox titled: "Just Cubs" in the early 1990's. More recently, she completed murals for a pediatric complex, which included waiting rooms, hallways and offices. One of her dolphin paintings was licensed for t-shirts that sold in Japan. She was also invited to show in an exhibition at the San Diego Natural History Museum where she sold some works as well.

She enjoys taking photos of all subject matter, drawing and painting everything from portraits to sea and landscapes, animals to floral and much more. Bobbi paints in oil, watercolor and acrylic, and occasionally plays with pastels. She often demonstrates a photorealistic style that is meticulous in detail and sumptuous in color, form and range of subject matter.

Welcome the SDAG NEW 2012-2013 Board Members

SDAG "WELCOMES" the 2012-2013 New Board Members.

Turning over a new leaf!  Welcome in the new 2012-2013 board, of the San Dieguito Art Guild, under the direction of Co-Presidents, Terry Allen and Cheryl Ehlers.

New members are, Kathy Chin and Jill Treadwell- Svendson, Co-Secretaries and Rita Hohweiler-Cecil, Co- Public Relations . We thank you for volunteering for the positions.  It is so critical to the health of the board to maintain its level of function ability and we are proud to have you on board.  The pre-existing board members have either held onto their positions or rotated into open positions as our membership has overwhelmingly voted in all members to their positions during the annual voting.

Moving into the future with a new 501 3 (c) status, our agenda has planned exciting exhibitions, partnering with local organizations, hosting local youth and adult organizations, quarterly art demonstrations, Try It You Like It art classes, fundraising projects and more to educate the public on art awareness. We intend to offer opportunities to our Off Track Gallery, artist membership, and provide a new prospective on communicating to the public.

Catching up with technology we have brought on board, Facebook, Blogspot, YouTube and Twitter access.  The pilot programs have been in place, and we have been tracking the participation. To our wonderment, the activity had been very successful.  So join up and keep informed by participating.

Plans are slated for additional exhibitions partnering with local organizations, hosting local youth and adult organizations, quarterly art demonstrations, Try It You Like It classes, fundraising projects and a variety of projects to enhance opportunities for our Off Track Gallery artists to participate and outreach into the community. It is our intention to expose the San Dieguito Art Guild’s incredible volunteer organization and bring art awareness and services to the local arts community.

Please stop in and visit at our “biggest little gallery” in town, the Off Track Gallery and find yourself shopping for creative art, from a variety of paintings, photography, 3-D art, glasswork, gourd art, mosaics and jewelry.
